Mechanical vs Electronic Bird Scare Cannons

Compare MS6, ThunderGuard, Pro Basic and PRO3 by battery requirements, operating schedules and control options to choose a bird scare cannon.

Start with your operating routine

Sound output is not the only consideration when choosing a model. Device price, power source, timing, control requirements and access to the installation site also matter. Mechanical models cost less than electronic models. Electronic models offer additional timing and control features for convenience. Consider your budget alongside the features you need. At remote or hard-to-reach sites, electronic operating options that reduce daily switching on and off can be useful; access for battery charging must also be considered.

Battery-free operation

MS6 and ThunderGuard are mechanical models that require no battery or charging. They produce one blast at intervals set between 1–20 minutes. You need to go to the device to switch it on or off. The optional TMR01 timer, sold separately, allows one start time and one stop time to be set. Carrying a battery away for charging can be inconvenient at remote sites. Mechanical models remove this requirement; when the propane cylinder is empty, it can be replaced to resume operation. Regular inspection and maintenance are still required.

Electronic control

Pro Basic is the economical model with day, night and 24-hour operating modes. PRO3 is the professional model with more advanced control features and programming for six separate operating windows within a day.

Both models allow firing intervals between 1–60 minutes and offer a random number of blasts at random time intervals. Pro Basic costs less than PRO3. Consider both your budget and programming needs when choosing.

Both models can optionally be ordered with wireless remotes offering 1 km or 8 km range options. Wireless remotes are optional and sold separately.

A dealer’s product range

Mechanical models can serve customers looking for simple operation and an affordable price, while electronic models suit those wanting more control over operating routines. Stocking different models can help you reach a wider customer base and increase sales opportunities by catering to different needs and budgets. State clearly in quotations whether the battery and optional accessories are included.

Frequently asked questions
